MOIRINGS 2.0 explores experimentations in moire patterns to create complex shapes, colors, and tricks of the eyes.
MOIRINGS 2.0 generates identical rings of radial lines overlapped in groups and rotated slowly. The shapes and colors of the rings never changes, simply rotates. The resulting moire patterns display the illusion of changes in shapes and colors.
The color gradients are composed of hues within a color scheme from a random starting hue. The lengths and opacity of the lines can also be randomly chosen from line to line or smoothly shifted around the radius and back.
The animation will loop perfectly, but since the speeds of each ring is unique, it could take hours, days or even months for the animation to complete the loop and each circle to return to where it started.
Using your arrow keys, you can adjust the number of ring groups and rings to explore how the structures are built and how the overlapping rings create growingly complex interactions.
Key Commands
VIEW P - Stops the animation R - Reverses rotation direction Right/Left - Increase / decrease number of ring groups Up/Down - Increase / decrease number of ring layers
