Heart Spin is a new twist on an old theme. Back in the 1970's I created a plotter art piece called Scorpion Spin. Back then there was no color option - a limitation of the plotter medium. My original goal was to create tone, i.e. gray values, in an attempt to move away from a black line on a white ground. I accomplished the appearance of tone by overdrawing the same shape in tight spirals.
The original scorpion shape was digitized by hand into a series of coordinate pairs. In this modern version I have replaced the scorpion with an algorithm that produces a heart.
Adding color and transparency takes the piece to a new level for me. Seventy-seven percent (an angel number I'm told) of the heart clusters are red and the remaining clusters are rainbow colors.
I believe love comes from the heart, it can come in many colors, and sometimes interpersonal relationships can make you dizzy.
