Wabi-sabi (侘寂): appreciate impermanence and imperfection
There is little chance of a 'perfect' work of art. The small imperfections require reflection.
The variation and randomness give the work some asymmetry, common in wabi-sabi esthetics. Because of a limited color palette and the simple shapes used, the works keep their simplicity (another principle of wabi-sabi). The noisy texture gives it some roughness, indeed again a core principle of wabi-sabi.
The colors are reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. Some think that everything was better in the past. The trick is to enjoy the moment.
Thinking about impermanence is sometimes uncomfortable, 'ongemak' in Dutch, but also valuable.
