brainWaves was, in part, inspired by a visit to The Psychedelics Show Fall 2022, art exhibition, in Toronto, Canada. When I went to art school in the 1960's this genre was very popular. It has influenced several of my recent generative art pieces, as it does this work.

I've been working for the past several months with my college friend and collaborator Christopher Scussel on the concept of a 'river of time'. As result of ongoing discussions and many potential scenarios and iterations Chris recently came up with a river-like graphic algorithm. (He can add motion and make this algorithm look like a flowing river.) A joy for me, I hacked some of his code which has evolved into this effort. From a single river segment to a stack of colored strips of bacon to the psychedelic representation of synapses or a metaphor for brainWaves - see what you will. It's the creative process in action. This is what makes collaboration fun; you never know where it's going to lead.
