INTUIT explores the interaction between the subconscious and visual expression through the technique of automatic drawing—a process of creating images without conscious control or planning. Automatic drawing emerged as a tool for Surrealists to free the mind from rational control, allowing unconscious images to surface on paper. In the modern world, this practice has gained new significance as a form of meditation and self-discovery. Inspired by Surrealist ideas, Olga Fradina reinterprets automatic drawing in the context of digital art, using generative algorithms to create unique and unpredictable forms. These forms reflect the flow of thoughts, their fragmentation, and their connection into a new, unexpected whole. During the generation process, Fradina incorporates elements of randomness to mimic the movement of the artist’s hand as it intuitively follows inner impulses. Automatic drawing can serve as a way to slow down, immerse oneself in the stream of consciousness, and reach a meditative state where the focus shifts from the final outcome to the process of drawing or creating digital visualizations. In this approach, the artist relinquishes control and analysis, trusting her inner impulses and fostering a deeper connection with herself. In the digital realm, this practice takes on new forms through interaction with algorithms that reflect the continuity of movement and internal dialogue.

The project was tested on different browsers; it works best in Chrome. Please make sure the project works on your device.

The final resolution of the saved output depends on the size of your browser window.

To save a high resolution image add &scale=(and then a number from 4 to 12) to the end of the URL when in live mode. For example, &scale=6
You have the opportunity to experiment a little and save the image in several variants.
To save without a border, add &border=off to the end of the URL when in live mode.
To save with a larger border, add &border=large to the end of the URL when in live mode.
To use both functions, include both. For example, &scale=6&border=large

Press ’s’ to save the image.

To save an output with a density higher than 6 use Firefox for PC or Safari for Mac. Please be aware that it might take more time to generate a higher density output even on a powerful computer, so please be patient.
