#5TezCollection

Showcasing my #5TezCollection contribution. I will win no contests because I made no attempt at volume. I did not want to over emphasize how ridiculously we undervalue our artists, so I focused on pieces priced at .5tz to 3tz, and I collected works I genuinely valued for the art rather than the price.

Don't get me wrong, I deeply believe that art should be within the reach of everyone, that art is for everyone, that art is an essential element of life. And I deeply value the tezos world with its accessibility and affordability. It is my home. At the same time, I equally believe that artists should be able to earn a living wage from their work. It is that last point that I stumbled over in my reaction to the #5TezCollection event.

I also have to admit that I cheated. I actually spent 5.5tz plus a few cents in gas. Oh well, I am in the spirit of the event, if not entirely within the box. I am an artist - what box are you going to keep me in?

5TezCollection: Year 2

I actually did my first 5 Tez challenge last June 2022. I was recovering from Covid and couldn't sleep from the doctor prescribed steroids. I had spent all my tezos and found myself looking through projects at 2am that I couldn’t afford. I only had about 5 tez liquid, so I thought I'd run an experiment with my 5 tez. Make it a game. At first I figured I'd only be able to afford about 5 pieces for an average of 1 tez each.

I curated this collection as a way to showcase the wide range of artistic styles available on Tezos. This gallery features photography, pixel/gif art, abstract, generative art, mixed media, AI art, digital illustration and typography, all for under 5 tez. The #5tezcollection challenge is not only an adventure in art appreciation but also an exploration of the boundless creativity that exists within the Tezos community.
